At Mokkei, guest can use and learn about local crafts and handmade tools and tableware from around Japan. We’re gradually building our collection of contemporary and antique lacquerware from Ishikawa prefecture’s two famous lacquerware towns, Wajima, on the Noto peninsula, and Yamanaka, where Mokkei is located. Our private tours (please inquire) and retreats introduce visitors to artisans, and community workshops pass on skills for hand-making everyday items like brooms and baskets.
